Harold Finch is a fictional character in the television series "Person of Interest". He is portrayed by actor Michael Emerson. Finch is a reclusive billionaire computer programmer who created a software system known as "The Machine" that can predict future acts of violence and terrorism. He works with former CIA agent John Reese to prevent these acts and protect innocent people. Finch is also shown to have a troubled past, including being injured in a terrorist attack that killed his best friend and leaving his fiancée due to his work on The Machine. Throughout the series, Finch battles with his morality and the consequences of creating such a powerful tool.
